Hi, I am an American, gay, male attorney living in the States at present, but I learned Russian and Ukrainian through college and graduate school. I see you are in London ... great! I went to Univ. of Cambridge for a few years for BA and also to Univ. of London's SSEES, UCL, and LSE (Slavonic and East European is SSEES, UCL for part of law degree done in States, and LSE for MA. By Soviet-built trains, I traveled through East Europe and Russia for two months at the age of 21 by myself during the spring of 1993, and even wound up in Serbia and Croatia ... or Yugoslavia or ... Serbo-Croatia ... or Yugoslavia or ... oops, it's back to Serbia and Croatia again, I think... Anyhow, 1993 was a dangerous time still for an American to travel in that area of the world, especially young and by himself, not because Americans were disliked--in fact, they LOVED EVERYTHING about America, actually... so much so, they wanted everything associated with me: belongings, money, friends, stories, friendship, pictures, sex offered by ladies wanting to get pregnant by American, etc. I'm gay, so that wasn't "hard." WHY IS RUSSIA SO ANTI-AMERICAN, SO IMPERIALISTIC, SO UNPREDICTABLE, SO PUGILISTIC PUTINISTIC, SO FASCIST, SO NEO-NAZI, SO ANTI-GAY, SO REGRESSIVE, SO CULTURALLY AND MORALLY AND EDUCATIONALLY BACKWARD, SO CORRUPT AND EASILY CORRUPTED (BRIBES ARE TAKEN READILY IN RUSSIA IN 2014 STILL?!), AND IGNORANT ABOUT GAYS AND SCIENCE AND HISTORY AND LIFE OUTSIDE PUTIN'S CORRUPT WOOL BEING PULLED OVER THEIR OWN EYES BY PUTIN'S MEDIA CONTROL? I HAD HOPE FOR RUSSIA IN 1993, BUT NOW, IN 2014, I'M CERTAIN RUSSIA WILL CONTINUE TO FESTER AND ROT ALONG ITS HISTORICALLY CHOSEN PATH TOWARD SELF-DEFEAT, AGONY, WAR, POVERTY, INJUSTICE, DEATH, AND PUTRID DECAY.
