Только в сентябре в книжном магазине "Борхес" и кафе "В воздухе" (Креативное пространство "Ткачи", 5 этаж) будет проходит английский дискуссионный клуб "Who's Afraid Of Modern Art" в рамках которого Вы сможете не только приятно провести время, выпив чашечку ароматного чая с сендвичем, но и обсудить наиболее интересные и противоречивые события мира современного искусства с переводчиком, журналистом и арт-критиком из Австралии, Ангелиной Саул. Дискуссии ведутся на английском языке. Стоимость участия: 350р. с регистрацией, 400 - без регистрации. Ангелина Саул – арт-критик и переводчик из Мельбурна (Австралия). Работала арт-обозревателем в Lot’s Wife и Rabelais (Австралия) и Al-Binaa (Бейрут), а также редактором художественной литературы в журнале Meanjin (Австралия). Являлась автором и ведущей радиопередачи об искусстве на Bayside Radio. Ангелина – участник многочисленный конференций. Спектр ее исследовательских интересов чрезвычайно широк - от Греческого блюза до влияния востока на русскую литературу. К недавним ее достижениям относится работа о В. Хлебникове. В ближайших планах Ангелины –PhD – на тему Поэтики Желания в трех разных литературных традициях. В свободное время Ангелина переводит для коллекционеров искусства, а также принимает участие в работе переводческого клуба transviolatingpoetry. Описание проекта: The English are famous for their afternoon tea, a graceful affair which can be simply catching up over a cup of tea with a mere teabag or languidly discussing the big questions among fine English bone china. From the elegant to the whimsical, from foreign borrowings to royal rituals, afternoon tea remains a fashionable and graceful event. TKACHI wishes to indulge your senses by introducing art discussions in English to satisfy your appetite. As teatime is all about etiquette and cosy ambience, what better time is there to look at and freely discuss the various forms and ideas of modern art? Are you afraid of modern art? Then sign up! The discussions aim to explore questions around artists’ intentions towards the materials they use, the ideas they wish to transmit and the validity of this form and content in terms of trying to define what exactly inhabits modern art that disgusts or scares audiences worldwide. Additionally, aspects of our own geography, culture and artistic understanding may also be explored in trying to determine how different political, social and cultural climates may affect our understanding of what modern art can or should be. The discussions will not only focus on the works of painters, but also on the works of those who are working in other forms of media. Participants will enjoy dainty cucumber sandwiches (no crusts, please!), scones, crumpets, and other teatime delights during the classes. Ideally, the structure of the class would be led by a small talk on the works and the artists, as well as showing their work, and then by allowing the participants in small groups to discuss those works in conjunction with the questions posed for each topic of the week. The groups would then come together as a whole in order to present their ideas to one another freely, to listen to the ideas and questions that others may have, and to understand who and why some of us might be scared of modern art.
