Skycrater

“Skycrater” aka Federico Lucchi (born March 1990) is an Italo-German musician/songwriter presently located in Nanning, China. Although his first album was a collaboration with Canadian drummer Steeve Bilodeau, Lucchi is presently working alone, composing music for all instruments. Having previously worked as technician in a Canadian local TV station, Lucchi is also responsible for recordings, mixing and mastering all his music. Studying guitar and vocals since an early age, Lucchi first works, Sad new World (2014) featured a rock-ballad style inspired by artists like Van Morrison, Dire Straits or Chris de Burgh. His next album, Dawn for Man (2015) wasn’t so much meant for release as it was meant for personal experience and sound development. Mostly inspired by German power-metal band Blind Guardian, Lucchi started moving his compositions towards a heavier, more progressive style. Lyrics also changed from more politically-involved texts to fantasy tales with a deeper philosophical meaning. In his own words: “Lyrics in a song are even more important than the music. The music is responsible for the general feeling, the atmosphere of the song. The lyrics are the whole message, the only actual thing you tell to your listener. I think it’s OK sometimes to mess up the music, but you can’t mess up the lyrics.” His third album, Journey to the Other Land (2016), offers a much different sound than his previous works. The mix of metal-style guitars and heavy drums along with the story of a warrior crossing the ocean in his drakkar brings the listener to a whole new musical experience. Each song is a chapter of the album’s story, thus bringing the listener’s experience back to the whole album, and not just confined to one or two musical pieces.
