The undersigned wants to strongly request the Flemish Minister of Culture in Belgium, Mr. Bert Anciaux, to realize the world-wide importance of baroque orchestra La Petite Bande. This orchestra is one of the most refreshing and renewing ensembles in its field. For over 37 years, it has been a true icon in the musical world, inspiring many other baroque musicians all over the world. Belgium should be proud to have this orchestra in its residence. When this orchestra would be forced to stop existing from of a lack in governmental subventions, this would be very harmful for Belgium's image in the world. It would be unthinkable for the musical world and it would mean an incredible loss for the international ànd the national cultural life. The undersigned trusts that the Minister will take a critical look to the recommendations of the 'Beoordelingscommissie Kunsten en Erfgoed' and reconsiders their advice.
