Post-metalcore (supergenre) is a term to describe bands that are neither strictly hardcore punk, post-hardcore or metalcore, though they use a metalcore-esque sound; such as breakdowns and a eclectic new sound beyond typical metalcore instrumentation. It's heavier aspects can utilise mathcore's and djent's technicality, the chaos and unconventionality of post-hardcore and deathcore, and contrasts this with the accessibility of melodic metalcore. Bands who experiment with the style also add melodic sounds which are created with alternative instrumentation, including symphonic sections, progressive rock song structures with post-rock and ethereal-inspired song breaks.
At this point in time no regional scene of post-metalcore has been established, this is most likely due to the ambitious production feats required to develop the sound, the internationality of modern music genres and the lack of established boundaries to the style. Instead pre-established British bands Bring Me the Horizon and Architects have contributed to the style. Their albums There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret and Daybreaker are primary examples of the diverse song writing that defines post-metalcore.
Despite there not being established precursors to the origins of post-metalcore Artists like Thrice, Deftones, Underoath and The Dillinger Escape Plan are collective influences of the aforementioned albums.

Post-Metalcore is a term i use to separate certain bands and albums whose style is primarily Metalcore but leaning towards the more experimental and ambient aspects of Metalcore.
I begin using the term when Bring Me the Horizon's Sempiternal was released. Is mostly a Metalcore album but with a heavy influence of Post-Rock, Post-Metal and Electronic Music.
I use the term when i talk about bands like Silent Planet, Architects (Lost Forever // Lost Together onward), Northlane (Node onwards), Invent Animate, Bring Me the Horizon (Sempiternal), The Devil Wears Prada (Space EP onwards), Blessthefall (Hollow Bodies onwards), Make Them Suffer (Ether and Worlds Apart), Loathe, Oceans Ate Alaska (especially Hikari) and Polaris to some extent.
I wouldn't call a real genre but mostly a way to refer to bands that plays this style.
