DEAD SKELETONS

Jón Sæmundur Auðarson is born in 1968 and lives in Reykjavík, Iceland. He studied at the Icelandic collage of arts & crafts and later at the Glasgow school of Art where he graduated in 2001 with a MFA degree. His works are mostly based on installations where he uses various mediums together, such as paintings, sculptures, videos & music. Death and life has been an important theme in Jón´s work for the past years or ever since he was diagnosed as HIV positive in 1994. He was forced to confront and conquer his fear of death and his most known work is the Dead concept, which he started in 2003 till this day. Dead is focused on life, a paradox intended to shock people into thought. A benign virus. The concept is Dead and alive. His music project Dead Skeletons (Iceland) came into being in 2008 as an accompaniment to an installation for a show at the Reykjavik art museum by artist Jón Sæmundur (Dead). Looking for a spiritual battle hymn for the show, Jón began recording with Henrik Björnsson (Singapore Sling) and Ryan Van Kriedt (Asteroid #4). This initial song, Dead Mantra, became an underground hit, prompting the full length LP Dead Magick (A Records), released by the band in 2011.
